JOB TITLE: Project Engineer

REPORTS TO: Vice President, Project Manager, or Senior Project Engineer

STATUS: Exempt

SUMMARY: The Project Engineer plays a vital role in assisting and supporting the Project Manager and Superintendent on designated projects. This position operates under the direct guidance of the Project Manager and engages in routine daily tasks while collecting and disseminating information. The Project Engineer is expected to be a flexible and adaptable team member, possessing strong communication and client relationship skills.

KEY INTERFACES: Vice President, Project Manager, Superintendent, Project Administrator

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitates communication and helps uphold the company's Health & Safety Program.
  • Exemplifies commitment to a safe workplace through personal actions and mentoring of peers.
  • Receives, reviews, forwards, and monitors the status of submittals.
  • Initiates, prepares, reviews, tracks, and distributes Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Tracks quantities and reviews and approves timecards.
  • Conducts weekly productivity analysis and reporting.
  • Assists in creating readiness review documents for upcoming work elements as needed.
  • Contributes to the preparation of bid packages as part of the procurement process.
  • Generates and processes Subcontractor Monthly Billings using Viewpoint.
  • Assists in coding and approving project-related invoices from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Supports the Change Management process, including soliciting, receiving, reviewing, and preparing estimates for submission to clients, and issuing Change Orders to subcontractors and suppliers as necessary.
  • Attends project meetings as directed by the Project Manager.
  • Aids in fulfilling project close-out requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED SKILLS: Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint; strong written and verbal communication skills; effective time management and organizational abilities; capability to work effectively as part of a team; reliability; ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times; and the ability to comprehend and follow directions.

PREFERRED SKILLS: Experience and proficiency in Vista Viewpoint, HCSS Heavy Job, HCSS Heavy Bid, Plan Grid, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: This position requires three to five years of relevant experience in the concrete construction sector. A Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
