Job Description

DPR Construction is seeking a skilled drywall project engineer with at least 2 years of commercial construction experience to join our self-perform work group.

The successful candidate will work closely with the project team and self-perform work group, responsible for:

  • Preparing work scopes packages
  • Organizing and maintaining cost structures
  • Preparing, monitoring, and updating project schedules
  • Helping maintain weekly work plans and implementing lean construction methods
  • Documenting schedule impacts to the project
  • Identifying changes in the project
  • Distributing change documents to field personnel
  • Preparing estimates of DPR's change order work
  • Assembling, submitting, and completing accurate change requests in accordance with owner contract requirements
  • Expediting approval of change orders
  • Attending and documenting minutes at owner/architect meetings, subcontractor meetings, staff meetings, and other meetings; following through on action items
  • Participating in and applying DPR's environmental health and safety plan to maintain injury-free environments
  • Assisting foremen and field crews in implementing DPR policies and executing the project
  • Assisting and organizing field staff duties, providing direction, prioritization, performance feedback, and coordination to ensure job duties and project requirements are fulfilled
  • Completing safety job site audits weekly
  • Preparing financial reports, including updating pertinent project information relating to labor, productivity, and cash flow
  • Keeping cost, commitment, and projection information current in the company job costing system
  • Preparing monthly progress reports, incorporating new subcontract change amounts, material purchases costs, and change orders
  • Preparing monthly fee and cost status reports
  • Preparing owner billing by assembling DPR costs, receiving and reviewing subcontractor/material invoices, and organizing documents in accordance with owner requirements
  • Preparing and monitoring labor cost reports and job records, including daily site walks and safety reporting, evaluation of construction activities, equipment and material coding logs, safety inspection and accident logs, and reports

Requirements

We are looking for a flexible, detail-oriented team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Excellent listening skills and strong communication skills
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex issues
  • Effective participation in a team environment
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software (CMiC or similar), and On Screen Take Off and Quick Bid (not necessary but preferred)

Qualifications

2+ years of experience as a project engineer, preferably within DPR's core market projects with an emphasis on drywall and framing

Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field

A strong work ethic and a 'can-do' attitude
