Job Summary

Waterbury Hospital is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our team. As a Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Communication: Welcome and greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner, either in person or over the phone.
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Coordinate and organize appointments, documentation, and other administrative tasks to facilitate the smooth running of the healthcare environment and support the delivery of quality patient care.
  • Registration and Payment: Obtain accurate patient demographic information, update records as necessary, and process payments in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Telephone and Referral Management: Answer multi-line telephones, schedule appointments, take messages, and handle referral requests as necessary, according to policy.
  • Operations and Maintenance: Maintain operations by following and remaining updated on electronic health records and office policies and procedures.
  • Record Management: Assist with printing and/or copying of medical records and other materials as needed, and document appropriately.
  • Insurance Verification: Verify PCP and insurance eligibility and document verification numbers in comments for each visit, when required.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: At least one year of current front office experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
  • Skills: Strong phone and computer skills, working knowledge of practice-based medical office processes and procedures, demonstrated communication skills (written and verbal), knowledge of insurance guidelines, knowledge of medical information and electronic medical records/systems, ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, and ability to organize and prioritize work as required.
