POSITION SUMMARY

The Substation Engineering Specialist is responsible for leading and developing teams in the analysis, planning, design, and maintenance of Exelon's electric transmission and distribution systems. This role involves providing expert consultation and recommendations based on comprehensive studies of both company and customer systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitates advanced technical training and consultation in specialized engineering domains, utilizing both on-the-job and classroom instruction methods. (25%)
  • Assesses intricate technical challenges requiring specialized expertise and formulates strategic recommendations for resolution. (25%)
  • Oversees project teams in executing large-scale technical initiatives, ensuring the safe integration of major utility systems. (25%)
  • Engages with industry committees to stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends relevant to our operations. (10%)
  • Contributes to departmental planning and performance monitoring to achieve targeted outcomes. (10%)
  • Serves as an expert witness, providing insights for internal evaluations and regulatory matters. (5%)

JOB SCOPE

The Substation Engineering Specialist operates within a multi-disciplinary team focused on high voltage and protection systems. Responsibilities include conducting feasibility studies, developing project scopes, and overseeing engineering deliverables. The specialist acts as a subject matter expert, guiding both internal teams and external consultants on a variety of transmission and distribution projects.

This role also involves resolving complex technical issues, coordinating with stakeholders, and managing project timelines and resources. The specialist will assist in resource management, contract oversight, and mentoring team members.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Proficient in applying engineering principles and problem-solving methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry regulations, standards, and advanced engineering practices.
  • Familiarity with cutting-edge technologies applicable to various engineering assignments.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Proven leadership capabilities in managing project teams.
