Key Responsibilities

The Director of Plant Operations is a pivotal full-time role responsible for overseeing all aspects of food production and packaging. This position encompasses various operational facets, including data management, planning, production, packaging, quality assurance, and employee health and safety. The primary responsibilities include:

  • Supervising personnel across data management, planning, and production.
  • Aligning activities to evaluate production metrics and develop operational strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborating with leadership on initiatives related to employee health & safety, quality assurance, and productivity enhancements.
  • Managing the planning function to ensure synchronization with corporate demand and local production schedules.
  • Facilitating the timely generation of production schedules to meet customer order deadlines.
  • Balancing production plans with manufacturing costs effectively.
  • Overseeing data management to ensure accurate and timely reporting of shop orders.
  • Promoting effective employee relations through coaching, development, and resolution of workplace issues.
  • Training and developing department leads to embrace change and continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring all personnel are adequately trained to perform their essential functions.
  • Establishing and enforcing operational procedures and standards.
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders at all management levels.
  • Exhibiting initiative in achieving objectives and serving as a positive leadership example.
  • Maintaining a culture of change where employee concerns are addressed, and operational goals are met.
  • Monitoring and managing the departmental budget in line with the annual operating plan.
  • Participating in regular audits and assisting in the development of procedural improvements and corrective actions.
  • Adhering to company policies and conducting departmental activities in compliance with these standards.

Safety Responsibilities

  • Completing safety documentation and ensuring compliance with program standards, reporting any deviations.
  • Participating in mandatory safety training programs.
  • Reporting all safety concerns, near misses, and incidents.

Quality Assurance & Food Safety

  • Completing quality assurance documentation and ensuring compliance with program standards, reporting any deviations.
  • Participating in mandatory food safety and quality training programs.
  • Maintaining the integrity of the BRC system by adhering to policies outlined in the Quality Policy Manual and addressing any deficiencies.
  • Reporting food safety and quality system failures and taking necessary actions to uphold the BRC system.

  • Physical capability to lift up to 65 pounds and perform various physical tasks.
  • Adaptability to shop conditions such as noise, dust, and temperature variations.
