Key Responsibilities
The Director of Plant Operations is a full-time, salaried role responsible for overseeing all aspects of food production and packaging. This position encompasses a wide range of operational duties, including data management, production planning, quality assurance, and employee health and safety. The Director will maintain comprehensive supervision over staff across various departments. Specific responsibilities include:
- Supervising personnel in data management, production planning, and execution.
- Aligning operational activities to evaluate production metrics and develop continuous improvement strategies.
- Collaborating with leadership on initiatives related to employee health & safety, quality assurance, and productivity enhancements.
- Overseeing production planning to ensure alignment with corporate demand forecasts and local manufacturing schedules.
- Facilitating the timely generation of production schedules to meet customer delivery expectations.
- Effectively balancing production plans with manufacturing costs.
- Ensuring timely reporting and accuracy of shop orders through diligent data management.
- Promoting positive employee relations through coaching, development, and effective problem resolution.
- Training and mentoring department leads to embrace change and continuous improvement.
- Ensuring all personnel are adequately trained to perform their essential functions.
- Establishing and enforcing operational procedures and standards.
- Engaging with internal and external stakeholders across all management levels.
- Exhibiting initiative in achieving objectives and serving as a positive leadership example.
- Maintaining a culture focused on change, addressing employee concerns, and achieving operational goals.
- Monitoring and managing departmental budgets in line with the annual operating plan.
- Participating in regular audits and contributing to the development of procedures and corrective actions.
- Upholding company policies and conducting departmental activities in accordance with established guidelines.
Safety Responsibilities
- Completing safety documentation and ensuring compliance with program standards, reporting any deviations to the Environmental Health & Safety Manager.
- Participating in mandatory safety training programs.
- Reporting all safety incidents, near misses, and injuries promptly.
Quality Assurance & Food Safety
- Completing quality and food safety documentation and ensuring compliance with program standards, reporting deviations to the Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager.
- Participating in mandatory food safety and quality training programs.
- Maintaining the integrity of the BRC system by adhering to policies outlined in the Quality Policy Manual and taking necessary actions to address deficiencies.
- Reporting food safety and quality system failures and taking corrective actions to preserve the BRC system.
