Key Responsibilities
The Director of Plant Operations is a full-time, salaried role responsible for overseeing all aspects of food production and packaging. This position encompasses various operational facets, including data management, production planning, packaging, quality assurance, and employee health and safety. The primary responsibilities include:
- Supervising personnel in data management, production planning, and execution.
- Aligning operational activities to evaluate production metrics and develop continuous improvement strategies.
- Collaborating with leadership on initiatives related to employee health & safety, quality assurance, and productivity enhancements.
- Managing the planning process to ensure alignment with corporate demand forecasts and local production timelines.
- Facilitating the timely generation of production schedules to meet customer delivery expectations.
- Balancing production planning with manufacturing cost efficiency.
- Overseeing data management to ensure accurate and timely reporting of production orders.
- Promoting effective employee relations through coaching, development, and resolution of workplace issues.
- Training and mentoring department leads to embrace change and foster continuous improvement.
- Ensuring all personnel are adequately trained to perform their essential functions.
- Establishing and enforcing operational procedures and standards.
- Engaging with internal and external stakeholders at all management levels.
- Exhibiting initiative in achieving objectives and serving as a positive role model for team members.
- Maintaining a culture focused on change where employee concerns are addressed and operational goals are met.
- Monitoring and managing departmental budgets in line with the annual operational plan.
- Participating in regular audits and assisting in the formulation of procedures and corrective actions.
- Upholding company policies and conducting departmental activities in accordance with established guidelines.
Safety Responsibilities
- Completing safety documentation and ensuring compliance with program standards, reporting any deviations to the Environmental Health & Safety Manager.
- Participating in mandatory safety training programs.
- Reporting all safety incidents, near misses, and injuries promptly.
Quality Assurance & Food Safety
- Completing quality assurance documentation and ensuring compliance with program standards, reporting deviations to the Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager.
- Participating in mandatory food safety and quality training programs.
- Maintaining the integrity of the BRC system by adhering to policies outlined in the Quality Policy Manual and taking necessary actions to rectify deficiencies.
- Reporting food safety and quality system failures and taking corrective actions to uphold the BRC system.
