Key Responsibilities:


The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is tasked with supervising and directing the engineering, facilities, and machining sectors within the manufacturing division.

This position requires leading a team and collaborating across departments to refine manufacturing processes, boost efficiency, and uphold product quality.

The role is pivotal in executing continuous improvement strategies, managing projects, proposing and implementing capital initiatives, overseeing new product introductions, and maintaining equipment.


Position Duties:
Provide robust leadership to the manufacturing engineering team, which includes recruitment, training, and performance evaluation. Cultivate a collaborative and high-achieving work atmosphere.

Ensure operational efficiency by prioritizing and managing staff performance through effective recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision, and evaluation.

Direct team activities and foster positive employee relations through effective communication and coaching.
Monitor and maintain high service levels while collaborating closely with staff.
Oversee employee scheduling to ensure optimal service delivery.
Implement policies and programs effectively through team collaboration.
Develop and enforce effective internal controls.
Formulate and execute strategies to enhance manufacturing processes, improve efficiency, and minimize costs. Identify improvement opportunities and implement suitable solutions, including lean manufacturing techniques, automation, and process redesign.
Collaborate with quality assurance teams to establish and uphold quality standards and processes.

Design and implement quality control plans, conduct root cause analyses, and drive corrective actions to guarantee product quality and reliability.

Work alongside product development teams to ensure seamless integration of new products into manufacturing. Provide engineering support during the New Product Introduction (NPI) process, including design for manufacturability (DFM) assessments, process validation, and production ramp-up.
Manage the manufacturing engineering budget to ensure optimal resource utilization. Identify equipment and technology requirements, coordinate capital expenditure requests, and provide informed recommendations.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the manufacturing engineering department.

Lead initiatives such as Six Sigma, Kaizen events, and value engineering to enhance processes and reduce costs.

Evaluate current manufacturing workflows and material/product flow through the facility by applying manufacturing principles and process improvement theories to recommend and implement changes that enhance efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining quality.

Utilize available resources to recommend, specify, justify, negotiate, and validate new capital equipment and tools.
Prepare reports on costs, utilization, efficiency, and other performance metrics by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing shop floor data.

Qualifications and Skills:
A Bachelor's Degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering is strongly preferred, or a combination of relevant education and experience.

Experience in regulated industries and familiarity with compliance requirements is preferred.

5+ years of relevant work experience is highly preferred.

Prior management experience with both salaried professionals and hourly staff is strongly preferred.

Must possess a valid driver's license and insurance, with the ability to travel as needed.

Preferred expertise includes: Lean manufacturing (5S, continuous improvement, cell design, plant layout, mistake-proofing), metal forming, component design and fabrication, mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly, and machine/tool design.

Knowledge of materials, particularly aluminum, and their physical properties, processing characteristics, heat treating, coating, and plating specifications is preferred.

Ability to work effectively as a proactive team player; demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in work duties while maintaining a positive attitude; understand the importance of supporting the organization, customers, and colleagues.

Must meet FAA regulatory and safety requirements in all work aspects.

Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship-building skills to effectively engage with a diverse range of individuals, including employees, managers, executives, vendors, and customers.

Establish, document, and communicate clear performance expectations and standards. Evaluate, discuss, and hold employees accountable for job performance and organizational behavior standards.

Capable of performing HR-related functions, including hiring, training, managing performance, and recommending disciplinary actions.
