Job Summary

Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia seeks a skilled Director of Facilities and Construction to lead our site development, facilities maintenance, and improvements efforts. As a strategic partner, you will collaborate across departments to ensure business needs are met, manage budgets, and oversee construction and maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes and ensure successful project execution.
  2. Develop and manage budgets for site expenses, staffing, and capital expenditures.
  3. Plan, organize, and direct activities related to construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.
  4. Develop project plans, outlining tasks, responsible parties, deadlines, and budgets for major projects.
  5. Assist in assessing potential sites for development, based on established criteria.
  6. Negotiate contracts with vendors, architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  7. Supervise and oversee active construction and renovation projects.
  8. Develop and maintain relationships with vendor partners and county/city officials.
  9. Lead the professional development and performance management of associates.
  10. Pursue personal development and encourage associates to do the same.
  11. Champion Values-Based Leadership and partner with leaders to identify Values in Action.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in a related field required.
  • Construction Management Certification preferred.
  • Valid state driver's license, insurance, and satisfactory driving record required.
  • Associates in this position will be required to pass state and federal criminal background checks and sex offender check.
  • Working knowledge of architectural/CAD applications and drawings, proficiency in Microsoft Project Manager, Visio, and Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Proficiency in real estate, architecture, construction techniques, facilities operations, maintenance, and management principles required.
  • Demonstrated mastery of construction, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, design techniques, and principles required.
  • Experience in procurement and administration of contracts, management of real estate contracts, and budget maintenance required.
