Position Overview: The Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for the design, development, documentation, analysis, testing, integration, and debugging of security measures aimed at identifying and addressing vulnerabilities within software, networks, systems, and applications. This role ensures that security requirements are effectively established and maintained across various projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate data from security devices and incident reports to enhance detection capabilities and reduce future risks.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of system security to pinpoint and alleviate potential threats and weaknesses.
  • Propose effective countermeasures to address identified risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Prepare and update essential documentation, including incident reports and security recommendations.
  • Assist in the identification, prioritization, and coordination of protective measures for critical cybersecurity infrastructure and resources.
  • Engage in basic system design activities, including interpretive analyses and the creation of related diagrams and enhancement plans.
  • Test both existing and emerging technologies to ensure security effectiveness.
  • Review and analyze proposed changes in equipment and technology for deployment in relevant environments.
  • Support the configuration and management of cybersecurity tools and systems.
Essential Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in cybersecurity.
  • Familiarity with commercial cybersecurity tools and technologies.
  • Knowledge of standard security principles, policies, and industry best practices.
  • Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, topology, sockets, and security) and web technologies.
  • Experience with intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), log analysis, and network traffic analysis.
  • Proficiency in Windows or Linux/Unix operating systems.
  • Ability to comprehend Government Information Security policies and regulations.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Information Security, Software Engineering, or a related field is required. [Four (4) years of experience may substitute for a degree.]
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • An active Secret clearance is mandatory, with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Eligibility for DHS Suitability is necessary.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience with Security Event Incident Management (SEIM) and Log Correlation systems.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, and HTML.
  • Experience with VMware and virtual machine environments.
  • Capability to develop custom tools and modify existing intrusion detection systems.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of automated testing tools.
  • Familiarity with various security practices, including:
    • Security COTS integration
    • Security Incident Event Management
    • Threat Monitoring
    • Operating System Hardening
    • Vulnerability Assessment
    • Identity Management
    • Computer Network Operations (CNO)
    • Malware Analysis
    • Security engineering
