Position Overview

Lead Cybersecurity Software Engineer

WOOD Consulting Services, Inc. is in search of a Lead Cybersecurity Software Engineer who will utilize analytical and logical reasoning to enhance the design, architecture, development, assessment, testing, and integration of computer systems, appliances, and networks. This role is crucial in strengthening the security framework of our programs.

The successful candidate will engage with commercial, custom, and government technology vendors to architect and evaluate cutting-edge secure applications, operating systems, networks, databases, and bespoke technologies. Key attributes for this role include meticulous attention to detail, integrity, innovative problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive under pressure while meeting stringent deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement security systems for both manual and automated environments, including on-premises and cloud-based solutions.
  • Ensure the safeguarding of organizational data against unauthorized access, accidental loss, and unauthorized alterations.
  • Work with a diverse range of tools and technologies to address security challenges and troubleshoot complex issues.

Security Clearance Requirements

All candidates must be U.S. Citizens and possess an Active Secret clearance, with the capability to obtain TS/SCI. Candidates must also be eligible for DHS suitability prior to commencing employment.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
    • Two years of relevant work experience may substitute for each year of formal education.
    • A Master's degree in a related discipline may replace four years of experience.

Required Skills

  • 8+ years of pertinent experience.
  • 6+ years of software development expertise.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with Java and associated technologies.
  • 2+ years of experience in Agile software development methodologies.
  • Experience with the installation and configuration of SecureSphere Imperva Web Application Firewalls (WAF) and Database Activity Monitoring (DAM).
  • Advanced knowledge in securing network traffic through AWS API Gateway and AWS Application Load Balancers, along with cloud-security technologies.
  • Familiarity with intrusion detection and prevention systems, security analytics, and various security protocols.

Desired Skills

  • 5+ years of Cloud DevOps experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with Network Security Identity Management tools.
  • Hands-on experience with security analytics and monitoring tools.

Certifications

  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), CISSP, Security+, and others are preferred.
  • Certifications related to Agile development and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) are also desirable.
