Cybersecurity Specialist

Position Overview: The Cybersecurity Specialist is responsible for the design, development, documentation, analysis, testing, integration, and debugging of security measures. This role involves conducting research to identify and assess security vulnerabilities across software, networks, systems, and applications. The Cybersecurity Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that security requirements are established and upheld for various projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Evaluate data from security devices and incident reports to enhance detection capabilities and reduce future risks.
- Conduct thorough assessments of system security to pinpoint and address potential risks and vulnerabilities.
- Propose effective countermeasures to mitigate identified risks.
- Maintain and update essential documentation, including incident reports and security recommendations.
- Support the identification and prioritization of critical cybersecurity infrastructure and resources.
- Engage in basic system design tasks, including interpretive analyses and the creation of relevant diagrams and enhancement plans.
- Test both existing and emerging technologies for security effectiveness.
- Review and analyze proposed changes to equipment and technology intended for deployment.
- Assist in the configuration and management of cybersecurity tools and systems.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in cybersecurity.
- Familiarity with commercial cybersecurity tools and technologies.
- Understanding of standard security principles, policies, and industry best practices.
- Knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, topology, sockets) and web technologies.
- Experience with intrusion detection and prevention systems, log analysis, and network traffic analysis.
- Proficiency in Windows or Linux/Unix operating systems.
- Ability to quickly grasp Government Information Security policies and regulations.
- A Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Information Security, Software Engineering, or a related field is required (or equivalent experience).
- U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
- An active Secret clearance is required, with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
- Eligibility for DHS Suitability is necessary.
- Experience with Security Event Incident Management (SEIM) and log correlation systems.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, and HTML.
- Experience with VMware and virtual machine environments.
- Capability to develop custom tools and modify existing security tools.
- Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
- Experience with automated testing tools.
- Familiarity with various security practices, including vulnerability assessments and operating system hardening.
