Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant I to join our team at Open Door Community Health Centers. As a Medical Assistant I, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments
  • Obtain and record patient medical histories, vitals, and test results
  • Prepare patients for visits and procedures, including taking vital signs and performing preliminary screenings
  • Perform chart preparation and Robust Confirmation Calls to ensure smooth and efficient patient visits
  • Follow Epic EMR workflows for MA duties, including standard rooming intake, telephone call documentation, and managing message inboxes and pools
  • Conduct MA procedures, such as electrocardiograph (ECG), respiratory testing, and vision and hearing tests
  • Administer medications and immunizations per ODCHC policy as directed by licensed staff
  • Stock and clean exam rooms to maintain patient safety and comfort
  • Properly dispose of sharps, bio-hazard waste, and pharmaceuticals
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Completion of accredited Medical Assistant training program or six months or more related experience and/or training as a medical assistant
  • State or National Certification or has successfully challenged the state or national board examination (optional)
  • Injection certificate (required by 6 months of employment)
  • Current CPR Certification

The employee is frequently required to communicate (talk and hear) in person and by phone, at normal volumes. Activities include sitting, standing, and walking. These activities, to various degrees, extend through all work activities.
