Key Responsibilities
  • Operations Management: Oversee the daily operations of the College Laker Cafe, including cash handling, inventory management, and food preparation.
  • Cash Handling: Operate the cash register, manage cash drawers, and prepare daily cash deposits.
  • Inventory Management: Order inventory and supplies, manage stock levels, and maintain accurate records.
  • Food Preparation: Prepare daily food menus, including sandwiches, salads, soups, pizza, and specials.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, and staff, addressing and resolving customer complaints in a timely and effective manner.
  • Team Management: Train, schedule, and supervise student workers as needed.
  • Quality Control: Maintain high standards of quality and cleanliness in the cafe, including monitoring and reporting on maintenance of appliances.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and College policies, including the Clery Act.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: Six months to one year of experience in a hospitality-related field preferred.
  • Certifications: ServSafe certification with the State of Michigan required.
  • Skills: Strong organizational, decision-making, and time management skills; good communication and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Working Environment

The job responsibilities of this position are performed in an educational environment which requires a professional image and demeanor; prompt and reliable attendance. The environment has minimal, if any, discomfort due to heat, cold or dust. There is occasional moderate noise level within the environment.
