Job Summary

This role is responsible for programming and operating a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and various other gages and test equipment used for performing layouts and other tests to support current and launch programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all layouts and testing as required, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Issue layout and test reports to requesters upon completion, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date layout and test records, adhering to plant and customer requirements.
  • Provide technical assistance in analysis and problem-solving of dimensional issues, leveraging expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Perform gage studies, maintain gage management software, and ensure all certifications and calibrations of lab equipment and gages are up-to-date.
  • Assume Lab Supervisor function, if approved by Management, overseeing daily operations and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work environment, adhering to 5S discipline, and ensure gages received from other plants are properly stored and maintained.
  • Continuously improve efficiency in layout performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing process enhancements.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of CMM experience within the automotive industry, with a strong understanding of CMM software and operation.
  • Sound basic knowledge of GD&T principles, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.
  • Ability to produce clear, legible layout reports, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of basic metrology principles, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a variety of contexts.
  • Basic mechanical blueprint reading skills, with the ability to interpret and apply technical drawings.
