About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Academic Success Coach to join our team at Albany State University. As an Academic Success Coach, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic success of our students, particularly those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and select eligible participants for the Educational Talent Search Program.
  • Provide academic, career, and educational counseling to students, including identifying and addressing personal, academic, financial, and career goals.
  • Collaborate with guidance counselors at targeted schools to provide information and resources to students.
  • Develop and implement curriculum and services to meet the needs of program participants, including connections to education or counseling services to improve financial literacy and economic literacy.
  • Provide tutorial services to students within the ETS program.
  • Assist students and parents in completing test registrations, college admissions applications, and FAFSA forms.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records of student academic progress.
  • Coordinate and implement schedules for high school visits for the academic year in cooperation with school administrators, guidance counselors, and faculty/staff.
  • Work collaboratively with Dougherty County Schools System principals, counselors, teachers, and other partners to provide academic enrichment, tutorial services, career exploration, aptitude assessments, counseling, mentoring programs, workshops, and information on postsecondary institutions.
  • Work closely with Talent Search parents and/or guardians to inform them of high school graduation requirements, academic enrichment opportunities, and college expectations.
  • Plan, develop, and implement ETS participants' exposure to institutions of higher education via campus tours, cultural events, academic programs, and activities not usually available to disadvantaged youth.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling or Education or a closely related field.
  • At least two years of K-12 education experience.

Albany State University offers a competitive salary range of $34,039 to $47,760, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and major medical insurance, group life insurance, participation in the Georgia Teachers' Retirement System, Optional Retirement Plan (Faculty and exempt employees only), Social Security, and Tuition Assistance Program after six months of employment.
