Position Summary:

The Safety and Security Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the protection of individuals and property within the healthcare environment. This position requires constant vigilance and the ability to respond effectively to various situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular inspections of the premises, both inside and outside, to provide a visible security presence and ensure a safe environment.
  • Monitor access points to the facility and assist in managing visitor flow, particularly in high-traffic areas such as the Emergency Department.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations, offering assistance and ensuring the safety of staff and visitors during conflicts or confrontations.
  • Act as a first responder to incidents such as fire alarms, chemical spills, and medical emergencies, including performing Basic Life Support (BLS) as needed.
  • Document and investigate incidents occurring on the premises, collaborating with local law enforcement when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities and unusual occurrences, including vehicular accidents and reports of missing property.
  • Oversee the facility's lost and found operations, ensuring the security of valuable items.
  • Assist with the logistics of Air Ambulance Services as required.
  • Manage the creation of identification badges and troubleshoot related issues, as well as review surveillance footage when necessary.

Qualifications:

Education:

High School Diploma or GED is required. A Vocational Technical Degree is preferred.

Licensure/Certifications:

Current BLS Certification and NAPPI training must be obtained within the first six months of employment; annual AED competency is also required. IAHSS Basic Security Certification (or equivalent) is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

Proficient computer skills are essential for this role.
