Job Summary

This position is under the direction and supervision of a licensed, registered dietitian nutritionist.

The Nutrition Care Specialist is responsible for providing nutrition care and education to patients and/or caregiver(s).

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinates, reviews, plans, updates, and implements medical nutrition therapy to patients according to established policies and procedures.
  • Monitors patients receiving nutrition support.
  • Provides nutrition education to patients, caregivers, staff, and community partners.
  • Serves as a preceptor for medical, dietetic, and food service interns and/or clinical research.
  • Participates and serves on interdisciplinary team meetings, patient rounds, multidisciplinary committees, and/or discharge planning.
  • Assists with performance and quality improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an Academy of Dietetics (AND) accredited institution and/or approved internship program.
  • No previous experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Maintain 75 hours of continuing education every 5 years.
  • Ability to interpret data, teach, communicate to other healthcare professionals, manipulate numbers, and write in medical records.
  • Inpatient, outpatient, or community healthcare experience.
  • Knowledge of AND, Joint Commission, Department of Health and Environmental Control, and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Greenville Memorial Med Campus, 1008 Greenville Memorial Hospital, Clinical Nutrition.
