Position: Educational Support Specialist

Hourly Rate: Starting at $18 per hour

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 32.5 hours per week

Work Hours: School hours, no nights, weekends, or holidays

Requirements:

  • Updated resume

  • Experience in classroom environments
  • CPR or BLS certification (can be obtained post-offer but required to start) - reimbursable
  • Associate's degree or higher education

Role Overview:

The Educational Support Specialist plays a vital role in assisting students with special needs in both one-on-one and classroom settings. Responsibilities may include supporting students with personal care tasks and managing behavioral challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementing IEP objectives across various subjects including math, reading, and independent skills.
  • Facilitating teacher-led learning activities such as lesson plans and group work.
  • Providing assistance to students in general education classes.
  • Communicating essential information to teaching staff.
  • Supervising students during recess and lunch, as well as during community outings.
  • Maintaining confidentiality regarding all student-related matters.
  • Supporting prescribed programs developed by related service personnel.
  • Helping students develop independent skills through self-care activities.
  • Assisting in behavior management techniques as directed by the teacher.
  • Performing clerical duties to support classroom organization.
  • Assisting with student mobility and transfers.
  • Reporting any changes in student status as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Adherence to professional standards of practice.
  • Completion of relevant competency programs.
  • Current CPR certification, if applicable.
  • Health assessments as required.
  • Compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Successful completion of new hire training.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong communication skills, proficiency in English is required.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
