Key Responsibilities:
  • Offer advice and guidance on assigned projects, ensuring that all analyses, reports, and recommendations are meticulously prepared based on sound practices and principles.
  • Provide crucial support and consultation to facilitate smooth project development and bring resolution to address any technical challenges.
  • Oversee the planning, organizing, monitoring, and directing of work activities and resources necessary to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Liaise with internal VDOT staff, external customers, consultants, and stakeholders to coordinate and discuss transportation projects and programs.
  • Ensure projects align with established processes, schedules, budgets, design criteria, standards, and specifications, maintaining a focus on timeliness and budget adherence.
Requirements:
  • Experience in contract management and change management.
  • Experience in the use of computers and software applications.
  • Project Management experience related to the project development process.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing to include presentation skills.
  • Ability to investigate and resolve design issues.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of transportation project management and project engineering.
  • Knowledge of roadway design criteria, construction methods, standards, specifications, and materials to include VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications and Standards.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and manage multiple projects and contracts.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A combination of training, experience, or education in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineering license or Engineer in training certification.
  • Certification as Project Management Professional.
  • Experience in roadway project management and design.
