Physician (Physician Specialist) - Correctional Health Services

NYC Health + Hospitals is seeking a skilled Physician (Physician Specialist) to join our Correctional Health Services team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive, compassionate, and thoughtful care to patients with complex chronic disease in the New York City jail system.
Responsibilities- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses
- Evaluate the need for consult services and submit prioritized consults
- Conduct comprehensive histories and physicals on all new admissions
- Order appropriate medications and update problem lists
- Implement plans for patient care utilizing approved protocols and treatment plans
- Collaborate closely with CHS Physician Assistants and other team members
- Graduation from an approved medical school
- Completion of approved residency or fellowship in the specialty or sub-specialty
- Five years experience in the field of specialty or subspecialty
- Licensed to practice medicine in the State of New York
- Experience working with patients in a skilled nursing facility or other residential setting
- Experience working with patients who have serious mental illness or substance use diagnoses
- Knowledge of harm reduction approaches to care and familiarity with medications to treat opioid use disorder
