Attending Physician

NYC Health + Hospitals - Correctional Health Services is seeking an experienced Attending Physician to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to patients in our correctional facilities.
Responsibilities:- Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations and histories on new admissions
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses
- Evaluate the need for consult services and submit prioritized consults when indicated
- Review specialty consult clinic and hospital returns to ensure standard of care is met
- Respond to emergencies and fire drills in a timely and professional manner
- Perform chart reviews and summaries on all transfers
- Request radiology exams, lab tests, and EKGs when indicated and interpret results
- Notify Urgicare for 3 hour/EMS runs
- Complete and submit all encounter forms on a daily basis
- Witness, sign, and document patient healthcare refusals
- Generate medical modifications as needed
- Maintain clinical competency by reviewing PHS protocols, current medical literature, and C.M.E.s
- Provide clinical supervision for P.A.s/N.P.s, including co-signing of notes and medication orders
- Ensure standard of care is maintained
- Adhere to policies and procedures of CHS and be familiar with them by reviewing them as needed
- Attend all mandatory in-services
- Comply with and maintain Employee Health requirements
- Medical doctor with 3 to 5 years of directly related experience, which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty
- Registered to practice medicine in the State of New York and have Federal DEA, BCLS or ACLS, and Infection Control Certification, Medical Specialty License or Certification
- Board Certified in Specified Area of Medical Specialty
- Board Eligibility (You must be Board Certified within five (5) years of the completion of your Post-graduate Training. If hired before 5 years of completion is up, you will be terminated if not Board Certified by the 5th year.)
- Proof of Covid-19 vaccination will be required prior to hire
