Job Summary

The State of Vermont is seeking a highly skilled Tax Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a Tax Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for auditing and investigating tax compliance issues related to the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) and International Registration Plan (IRP).

You will work closely with taxpayers to ensure compliance with Vermont tax laws and regulations, providing technical assistance and education as needed. Your strong communication and interpersonal skills will be essential in building relationships with taxpayers and stakeholders. Additionally, you will be responsible for promoting and ensuring Vermont taxpayer compliance, with a focus on early intervention, education, outreach, and fairness.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in accounting, auditing, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience. You will also have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to individuals with varied backgrounds.
