About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding position for a skilled Clinical Transplant Coordinator. As part of our team at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and leading a multidisciplinary team in transplant coordination.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate patient care from initial referral through transplantation and post-operative follow-up.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, and healthcare teams to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Utilize strong clinical judgment and expertise in transplant nursing to make decisions and solve complex problems.
  • Lead and mentor staff members to ensure seamless delivery of patient care services.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in transplant, critical care, or medical-surgical nursing.
  • 2 years of progressive leadership experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical decision-making and problem-solving, with a focus on patient safety and quality outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in the transplant field, with a proven track record of leadership and innovation.
  • A baccalaureate degree in nursing, with a master's degree or higher preferred.
  • Certification in transplantation or a related field, such as CTRN (Certified Transplant Registered Nurse).
Work Environment

The Transplant Coordinator works independently, making decisions and solving problems without prior approval. The role involves daily operational functions, including leadership of staff and management of resources. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building relationships with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
