At Virginia Commonwealth University, we are committed to advancing research and innovation. As a Clinical Research Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting our multidisciplinary research team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Casefinding, evaluation & abstraction of source documentation, case report form completion, database use & management, data abstraction & organization for presentation/publication
  • Utilizes multiple data capture/retrieval systems & interacts with variety of health care delivery systems to identify, track, evaluate, collate, analyze & submit subject data
  • Collaborates closely with clinical research team, which may include Principal Investigator (PI), to ensure that key federal/state/local regulatory requirements are followed; that institutional operational research objectives are met; and that ethical obligations are kept
  • Develops, establishes and maintains productive relationships with VCU colleagues, all customers and contacts at affiliate sites to achieve essential research outcomes

Requirements:

  • Bachelors of Science degree or equivalent in Psychology, Neuroscience or related field.
  • Proficient in computer skills including word processing, data entry, spreadsheet, database management, and entry level statistical/programming skills required.
  • Strong clinical skills, including fundamental clinical skills such as establishing rapport, maintaining participant motivation, empathic responding, ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, and ability to use clinical judgment in (rare) emergency situations.
  • Strong organizational skills, including understanding of HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to organize meetings, and present reports.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
