Senior Completions Specialist

The Senior Completions Specialist will oversee the strategic planning, support, and execution of construction project completions as well as pre-commissioning and commissioning activities across diverse facilities, including both commercial and industrial settings. This role entails meticulous tracking and testing of various facilities, along with managing completions documentation and verifications to ensure compliance with project contractual obligations. The Specialist will actively promote and adhere to safety policies and engage in all site safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the evaluation of contractual specifications pertaining to completion and pre-commissioning requirements for projects.
- Coordinate activities and maintain direct communication with Client operations and commissioning teams.
- Manage collaboration with the Client's Distributed Control System (DCS) contractor.
- Responsible for overseeing, controlling, and forecasting the comprehensive budget for pre-commissioning and commissioning, which includes specialty subcontractors, training, and chemical supplies.
- Cultivate a thorough understanding of the primary contract and project protocols, ensuring the implementation of project requirements while developing additional procedures as necessary to support the timeline.
- Supervise all aspects of the pre-commissioning schedule, including vendor training and specialty subcontractor management.
- Ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and turnover documentation of projects, ensuring field teams comprehend and apply the tools according to specifications.
- Lead the review, planning, and communication of vendor requirements with personnel engaged in commissioning efforts on client projects.
- Spearhead the development and execution of commissioning plans.
- Facilitate the implementation by the pre-commissioning team during the execution of completion and commissioning tasks.
- Support constructability assessments and lead accept/reject verifications of construction status and equipment completion.
- Oversee the inspection of installed devices and the completion of necessary field setup and verifications.
- Direct coordination and testing phases of project efforts, addressing issues and routine equipment requirements.
- Ensure that proper documentation of activities is maintained, following defined processes to support record-keeping and reporting needs, including turnover documentation.
- Lead area commissioning managers and pre-commissioning personnel in activities required by the Completions and Commissioning department.
- Manage projects for Completions and Commissioning, including support for proposals.
- Ensure a solid understanding of various testing equipment operation processes and procedures, as well as logical controllers and field control systems (PLCs) integrated into startup procedures.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED with 11 years of experience in Completions and/or Commissioning required, or an Associate Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field with 9 years of experience required, or a Bachelor’s Degree in the same fields with 7 years of experience required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with Bluebeam and cloud-based software.
Preferred Experience:
- Familiarity with systems such as Steam Generation, Boilers, Condensate Treatment, Air Compressors, Cooling Towers, Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment, Chemical Loading & Storage, Bulk Material Handling, Flares, Firewater, and various power distribution systems.
- Experience with Pellet Conveying, Railcar Wash/Dry/De-Heeling Facilities, Catalyst Activation, Ground Flares, and Building Systems is a plus.
