In this role, the individual will operate under general supervision to deliver second-tier assistance to end-users for personal computer, server, and mainframe applications and hardware. The candidate will address issues that the first-tier help desk is unable to resolve.
The technician may collaborate with network services, software systems engineering, and/or applications development teams to restore services and identify core issues.
The candidate will have the ability to simulate or recreate user problems to troubleshoot operational difficulties. Furthermore, the technician will suggest system modifications to minimize user issues and will maintain a high level of technical proficiency in their area of expertise. More complex problems will be escalated to senior-level personnel.Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support for software installation and configuration.
- Deliver technical, operational, and training assistance to users of personal computers, either via telephone or on-site for desktop hardware and software packages.
- Responsibilities include installing and testing personal computers, printers, and other peripherals, configuring operating systems, and loading application software.
- Troubleshoot incidents related to printers, computers, and peripherals, perform hardware and software diagnostics, coordinate necessary repairs, and resolve system issues, including user and local area network component coordination.
- Participate in evaluating system configurations and software.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in Windows 10 and Windows 7.
- Strong hardware and desktop support skills.
- Familiarity with Active Directory, imaging, and troubleshooting.
- Active Secret Clearance.
- Current DoD 8570 IA Baseline Certification, IAT Level I (e.g., A+ CE, Network+ CE, SSCP, CCNA-Security certifications).
- Must obtain appropriate DoD 8570 IA Computing Environment Certification within 6 months of employment.
- Experience supporting Windows 7, Windows 10, and MS Office 2013.
- Experience with ticketing systems such as Remedy.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple IT areas and work independently on defined tasks.
Desired Skills:
- Experience maintaining Lexmark, HP, or Ricoh printer devices.
- Previous experience with USACE/ACE-IT.
- Familiarity with working in a DoD environment.
- Experience supporting Office 365.
