POSITION SUMMARY

The Tepa Companies are in search of a Construction Project Assistant Manager to support the Project Manager (PM) and oversee specific elements of projects, including client interactions, timelines, budgets, and overall project profitability until completion. In this role, you will work closely with the PM to create, refine, and update project schedules, budgets, and procurement processes to ensure optimal project performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing project timelines using Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
  • Conduct bid evaluations, drawing assessments, and on-site construction oversight as required.
  • Manage the development of preconstruction plans.
  • Prepare submittal packages as directed.
  • Facilitate the identification of project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Support the PM in coordinating with consultants, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Review proposal specifications.
  • Assist the PM through all project phases, including entitlement, design-build, permitting, bidding, contracting, construction, billing, and project closure.
  • Plan, schedule, and oversee project timelines to ensure all deadlines are achieved.
  • Perform cost estimation tasks.
  • Develop scopes for subcontractors.
  • Conduct quality control and assurance measures.
  • Track Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Engage in pre-qualification and procurement processes for subcontractors.
  • Conduct cost and risk assessments and provide insights to the PM.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with field personnel regarding all issues and work towards resolutions.
  • Interpret complex drawings and specifications.
  • Engage with subcontractors to clarify scope-related inquiries and provide guidance.
  • Input RFIs into the project management system.
  • Monitor amendments through relevant platforms for ongoing pursuits.
  • Source subcontractors across multiple locations concurrently.
  • Prepare preconstruction plan submissions, including necessary documentation and data.
  • Travel to project sites as necessary to fulfill onsite responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • At least 2 years of experience in assisting with construction project management, particularly in new and vertical construction, as well as the design-build process.
  • 2+ years of experience in roles such as Superintendent, Quality Control Manager, and Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO), or equivalent experience in other construction areas like preconstruction, project closeout, or business development.
  • Experience in performing duties of a superintendent, quality control manager, and site safety and health officer.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced knowledge of risk management policies and procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet various deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
