Job Description

This role within the Global Talent team presents a unique opportunity to shape and execute our advanced talent and succession strategies. As the Director of Talent Strategy and Succession, you will report directly to the Vice President of Global Talent in HR.

At Agilent, investing in our talent is vital to our ongoing success. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our various business leaders and HR partners to drive and implement key aspects of the talent strategy. Your expertise in succession and talent management, strategic consulting, project management, and talent analytics will be critical in evolving our global succession practices and managing end-to-end project management, from analysis and assessment to design, implementation, and ongoing progress tracking and evaluation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive succession program that aligns with the company's long-term goals and objectives.
  • Utilize analytics to measure the effectiveness of succession strategies and make data-driven decisions.
  • Engage key stakeholders within the business and HR community to ensure consistency of standards and approach to assessing and developing talent.
  • Understand and recommend resources and tools to deliver best practices for assessment, career, and development planning, coaching, and sponsorship.
  • Bring an 'outside-in' perspective, sharing market best practices and innovative talent recommendations.
  • Champion our diversity strategy and drive for continuous improvement, ensuring integration into our succession program.
  • Support HR partners in the facilitation of robust succession and development action planning, particularly for critical roles and high-potential succession candidates.
  • Provide tools, resources, and training as needed to support HR Partners' efforts in leadership assessment and development plan designs, furthering their ability to guide their business leaders.
  • Provide feedback from succession work to the AVP of Global Learning & Development to ensure leadership development programs, including training, coaching, and mentoring initiatives, are consistently meeting the development needs of our leaders.
  • Work directly with the Talent Management Workday team to drive optimized best system processes to support succession work.
  • Act as a trusted and credible partner who anticipates needs and proactively recommends solutions.
  • Lead communication and change management efforts for succession and talent reviews.
  • Be a collaborative leader who understands how to achieve buy-in from diverse constituencies across a matrixed organization.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to succession planning.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in talent management with a focus on succession planning and leadership development.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing successful company-wide/global succession programs.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data to inform decision-making.
  • Proven track record as an effective change agent, adept at driving large-scale organizational transformations across diverse functions and geographies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels of the organization, including the C-Suite.
  • Consistently offer quality advice, counsel, and insight. Maintain self-esteem and that of others while directly and constructively addressing issues.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Possess a deep technical experience with talent and succession modules of Workday.
  • One who is coachable, open, has a growth mindset, and able to cultivate a climate for new ideas around Talent Management and Succession.
  • Exhibits self-awareness, resilience, and agility. Has strong consultancy skills; able to manage multiple projects prioritizing and acting with a sense of urgency.

The US pay range for this full-time position is $193,638.00/yr, plus eligibility for bonus, stock, and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum new hire pay for the position across the relevant US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. During the hiring process, a recruiter can share more about the specific pay range for a preferred location.
