Job Summary:

The Patient Navigator-IR coordinates access to care for patients through the healthcare system from point of referral. Key responsibilities include:

  • Gathering demographic and insurance data necessary for insurance verification and verifying insurance coverage and benefits.
  • Submitting correct CPT codes and ICD 10 codes for IR referrals.
  • Gathering needed medical information for review prior to scheduling Interventional Radiology procedures.
  • Accurately posting charges for IR procedures and reconciling procedure documentation and supplies to ensure correct and timely posting.
  • Working on edits in conjunction with PBO.

The IR Patient Navigator functions as a liaison between patients, families, outpatient clinics, primary care physicians, and other support services. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Performing other duties as needed.
  • Providing education and support to patients and families.
  • Collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure seamless patient care.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum one year experience in a medical office setting and/or hospital-based clinic required.
  • Minimum two years working with radiology patients preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of all medical insurances and how they are used in a hospital/clinical-based facility.
  • Full knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes and how they are used in HMO authorizations.
  • Knowledge of both in-patient and out-patient settings.
