Development Assistant, Northern California

Facing History and Ourselves, Inc. is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Development Assistant to support the Northern California development team. The successful candidate will provide administrative and operational infrastructure support for fundraising strategies, donor cultivation, and stewardship efforts.
Key Responsibilities- Manage regional donation tracking system to ensure accurate gift and pledge tracking, acknowledgment letters, and thank you calls.
- Process checks, communicate receipt of mail to the team, and maintain digital files according to office protocol.
- Provide data entry and administrative support in Salesforce, ensuring up-to-date and accurate records.
- Support the development team and volunteer leadership in scheduling and preparing for donor meetings and events.
- Participate in the cultivation and stewardship of grassroots donors through regional communications and national appeals.
- Assist in creating and distributing marketing materials for donor cultivation and stewardship.
- Conduct prospect research as needed.
- Support regional development team and organizational special events team to ensure successful planning and execution of fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship events.
- Ensure accurate event information is updated and tracked on the organizational calendar, events database, and in Salesforce.
- Assist in weekly fundraising and registration progress reports to hosts and staff.
- Manage registration process for regional events.
- Help track necessary follow-up by staff, event leadership, and Northern California advisory board members.
- Assist with volunteer recruitment, training, and management for large fundraising events.
- Provide support to the development team for the NorCal advisory board and its subcommittees.
- Work or internship experience in administrative support, non-profit, or event settings preferred.
- Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Creative energy, self-starting, and ability to manage multiple assignments in a busy non-profit setting.
- Interest in and ability to articulate the mission of Facing History and Ourselves.
- Familiarity and comfort with database management; Salesforce knowledge preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills, including experience with Google suite and Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to work individually and as a member of a team; flexibility; comfort and ability to work in a remote environment.
