Lead School Counselor

The Sierra Vista Unified School District is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Counselor to join our team. As a School Counselor, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of our students.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate the activities and management of the Student Services Program, including PBIS committees and other related programs.
- Work in conjunction with school counselors and behavioral specialists to develop systems to support positive behaviors site-wide.
- Assist in establishing department objectives and developing a plan to implement and evaluate objectives.
- Recruit, hire, train, and assign counseling staff as needed.
- Conduct department meetings and attend relevant school, district, and professional meetings as necessary.
- Advise the principal on the needs of students and counseling departments.
- Identify and utilize community resources for department needs.
- Implement an ongoing program of evaluation and improvement for the counseling department.
- Collaborate with staff to promote interdisciplinary programs.
- Prepare training manuals for counseling staff and certified staff as needed.
- Assist in campus supervision during non-instructional time.
- Monitor and manage school security.
- Schedule mediations and parent conferences as directed by the principal/assistant principal.
- Work with community agencies as directed by the principal/assistant principal.
- Manage and coordinate educational programs, including master schedules and counseling guidance.
- Current Arizona State Guidance Counselor certification.
- Degree required in relevant field of study.
- High School experience preferred.
- Five years of counseling experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Research-Based School Disciplinary policies and procedures.
- Ability to obtain a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
The School Counselor will work in an indoor school building and classroom environment, with occasional outdoor activities. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate and may become excessively noisy at times.
