GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Portfolio Manager plays a crucial role within the coverage team, overseeing transactions and managing business portfolio responsibilities. Portfolio Managers are expected to engage deeply in the deal-making process, providing insights on suitable credit structures, pricing strategies, and more. They are directly responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of accounts through the review of updated financial statements, proactive monitoring, and collaboration with Credit Analysts.

Portfolio Managers are accountable for risk management by openly sharing ideas and concerns, adhering to established policies and procedures. They are committed to acting in the best interest of both customers and colleagues, ensuring that their actions contribute to a positive customer experience. Operating within the Bank's risk framework, they achieve results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting various types of risks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of accounts effectively.
  • Review and provide recommendations for credit decisions.
  • Collaborate with the Relationship Manager to form a cohesive coverage team.
  • Engage with clients and participate in business development initiatives.
  • Evaluate the creditworthiness of prospective clients.
  • Define the structure of deals, including borrowers, guarantors, credit terms, and financial covenants.
  • Assess the value of collateral.
  • Contribute to workflow improvements and develop a solid understanding of the Credit Lending process.
  • Focus on execution within the established credit lending framework.
  • Draft commitment letters.
  • Conduct final risk rating analyses.
  • Document credit decisions, conditions, and modifications thoroughly.
  • Work closely with Credit Analysts to fulfill portfolio management responsibilities.
  • Establish and maintain an Investor Group on the lender portal.
  • Monitor actions and conduct periodic reviews of deals.
  • Make informed decisions regarding the renewal or modification of deals.
  • Communicate directly with clients about credit events and necessary actions.
  • Independently pitch deal structures.
  • Commit to continuous learning to adapt to evolving market dynamics.
  • Provide mentorship to Credit Analysts.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business (e.g., Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting).
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in credit analysis and/or loan review within Commercial Banking.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor in client-facing situations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all stakeholders, including clients, relationship managers, and credit teams.
  • Expertise in financial and risk analysis, including financial modeling.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in technology and quick to learn new applications.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Standard office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, and temperature variations.
  • Extended periods of viewing a computer screen.
  • Some travel may be required.
