Job Summary

As a Fabricator - Certified at GKN Aerospace Inc, you will be responsible for assembling, forming, finishing, and inspecting components and parts according to customer specifications. This role requires close supervision and involves operating machines, hand and power tools, gages, and measuring instruments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and evaluate patterns to determine the best method for removing material to meet customer specifications.
  • Prepare parts for the tank by painting, patching, and removing maskant for etch. Use exacto knives and scales to hand layer out patterns.
  • Drill, assemble, and rivet segments and rings, trim, and paint touch-ups.
  • Debur and form parts using expanders, hot dye presses, and rolls.
  • Masks parts as required by applying tape to holes, masking first cut parts, and strip boards.
  • Strip flanges with knives, load parts using cranes, and run laser programs.
  • Maintain records associated with periodic maintenance and order spare/replacement parts as needed.
  • Maintain a clean work environment, including assigned storage and cleaning duties, in full compliance with company standards, customer, and government regulations.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a business culture that supports the company's overall business objectives and goals, including issues related to cost, quality, process, schedule, and people.
  • Ensure the company's commitment to maintaining a safe workplace and protecting the environment through the establishment and support of company policy and adherence to various government regulations.
  • Comply with the GKN Aerospace, Inc. Policy Statement on Contracting with the United States Government in all areas of responsibility involving direct and indirect contracting with the United States Government.
  • Perform other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED or 3 years of manufacturing experience.
  • 1 year of manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to be certified to operate a forklift.
Preferred Qualifications
  • GKN experience.
  • Experience working with hazardous materials and/or chemicals.
  • Ability to work as a team player and independently.
  • Knowledge and experience in troubleshooting or safety, quality, and technical issues with coworkers, quality, and engineering functions.
