The Alternatives Finance Group serves as a crucial link between private equity portfolio managers and external service providers, such as fund administrators, auditors, and tax specialists. The Vice President of Fund Operations will oversee all operational aspects of fund reporting for various private equity funds within the Neuberger Berman framework, ensuring effective collaboration with fund administrators in the accurate recording and reconciliation of transactions within the portfolio management and accounting systems. Additionally, this finance professional will contribute to the development of historical investment performance analyses, financial statements, and comprehensive reports. The Private Equity sector is rapidly expanding at Neuberger Berman, boasting over $90 billion in investor commitments across a diverse range of investment strategies including fund of funds, secondary investments, and co-investments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a pivotal member of the finance team, responsible for accounting and financial reporting oversight for Neuberger Berman's Secondary Fund operations.
  • Support a dedicated team in managing the accounting and financial reporting for Neuberger Berman's Private Equity initiatives.
  • Oversee the Fund Administrator tasked with preparing quarterly financial statements, capital account statements, capital calls, and distribution notices.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of audited financial statements and accompanying footnote disclosures.
  • Analyze distribution waterfalls in accordance with fund legal documentation.
  • Evaluate partnership and fund IRRs on a quarterly basis.
  • Scrutinize management fee calculations.
  • Assist audit and tax professionals during year-end audits and tax reporting processes.
  • Prepare detailed cash flow projections for fund liquidity assessments.
  • Collaborate with marketing to create LP-specific reports and respond to prospective client RFPs.
  • Work closely with investor relations to address LP inquiries.
  • Handle various ad-hoc requests from senior management and portfolio managers.
  • Support compliance with SEC and other regulatory requirements as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or Finance.
  • Strong grasp of accounting principles, fund accounting, and financial reporting.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or finance; CPA designation is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Capacity to operate independently with minimal supervision to achieve objectives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and email communication.
  • Able to collaborate effectively with employees at all levels, management, and external partners to enhance performance and problem-solving capabilities.
Compensation Overview:

The salary range for this position is competitive, reflecting the responsibilities and qualifications required. The specific salary will be determined based on various factors, including education, experience, skills, and overall performance. This role is also eligible for a discretionary bonus and comes with a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), life insurance, and additional benefits for eligible employees.
