Job Overview

Position Title

PeaceHealth is currently in search of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Nursing Assistant Registered (NAR) - Nursing Float Pool for a part-time, 12-hour day shift role. The compensation range for this position is $31.52 for CNA and $30.93 for NAR, with the initial salary being influenced by various factors such as education, experience, and applicable agreements.

Role Summary

The Nursing Assistant plays a vital role in supporting professional nursing staff in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients. This involves executing both direct and indirect patient care tasks, utilizing fundamental nursing assistant skills and knowledge under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in delivering direct patient care as assigned by the Registered Nurse, adhering to CNA licensure guidelines.
  • Perform essential technical skills, including CPR, monitoring vital signs, managing fluid intake/output, applying dressings, and reporting any signs of common ailments.
  • Support patients with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
  • Facilitate patient mobility, including assistance with walking, exercising, and transferring in and out of bed.
  • Ensure adequate supply levels by restocking patient rooms and supply areas.
  • Document relevant patient care information accurately.
  • May provide clerical assistance, including order entry and answering phones.
  • Carry out additional duties as required.
Qualifications

Education
  • Completion of an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant program is required.
Experience
  • Preferred: At least one year of experience in an acute care setting.
  • Required: Demonstrated understanding of age-specific growth and development principles to cater to each patient's needs.
Credentials
  • Required: Certification as a Nurse Assistant in Washington or Registration as a Nurse Assistant in Washington.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire.
Skills
  • Exhibit a courteous and compassionate demeanor towards patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to remain organized, adaptable, and work independently.
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Possess excellent communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency in computer use, clerical tasks, and customer service.
Working Conditions

Lifting Requirements
  • Handle patients weighing no more than 35 lbs. without assistive devices.
  • Perform fine motor tasks with medical equipment.
  • Push or pull up to 45 lbs. regularly.
  • Occasionally perform CPR for extended periods.
  • Ability to navigate the work area with frequent sitting and movement.
  • Engage in bending, stooping, and reaching as needed.
  • Occasionally lift non-patient items up to 20 lbs.
Environmental Conditions
  • Exposure to biohazards, bodily fluids, and airborne particles.
  • Ability to work effectively in a noisy environment.
Mental/Visual Requirements
  • Vision and hearing must be within normal limits (corrective devices allowed).
  • Ability to communicate effectively and relay accurate information.
