Position Overview:
The Educational Laboratory Technician plays a crucial role in assisting instructors within the School of Molecular Biosciences. This position is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of undergraduate laboratory courses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement of laboratory supplies and materials.
- Preparation of microbiological media, stock solutions, and buffers.
- Supervision and guidance of student assistants.
- Maintenance of microbial stock cultures.
- Collaboration with instructors to plan laboratory exercises.
- Assistance in the instruction of laboratory sessions as required.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or a related scientific discipline, with extensive experience in handling infectious disease agents.
- A minimum of five years of full-time experience in a scientific instructional role or equivalent educational background.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a life science or a closely related field.
- Prior experience in teaching undergraduate students and collaborating with faculty and graduate students.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively supervise diverse personalities.
- Proficient scientific writing skills, particularly in microbiology and related fields.
- Excellent organizational and computer skills.
