Position Overview
The Information Technology Department at The McCallie School, Inc. is looking for a dedicated IT Support Specialist. This role is essential in providing first-line assistance to students and staff, focusing on the troubleshooting and resolution of issues related to various computing devices, including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and audiovisual technology.
This position demands exceptional customer service and communication abilities, along with the capacity to perform effectively under pressure. The ideal candidate will possess a diverse skill set to handle various hardware, software, and applications, and will be capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding customer support through timely and effective service.
- Configure, deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain school devices, including Windows and Mac systems, utilizing tools such as Active Directory and Google Workspace Administration.
- Oversee the inventory and logistics of student loaner devices.
- Conduct routine maintenance on computer systems, ensuring updates, patches, and security measures are in place.
- Ensure compliance with industry-standard security protocols, implementing policies and conducting regular audits.
- Set up and maintain printing solutions, managing connectivity and addressing any operational issues.
- Provide on-site technical support for special events, which may occur outside of standard business hours.
- Assist with logistical changes in office and classroom environments.
- Support end-users with software and hardware inquiries, including productivity applications.
- Install and maintain audiovisual systems, ensuring optimal performance.
- Contribute to the enhancement of processes and workflows through best practice recommendations.
- Regular business hours (8 AM - 5 PM), Monday through Friday.
- Occasional evening and weekend support for events.
- Emergency support may be required at any time.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proficient understanding of common desktop and mobile operating systems and applications.
- Experience with collaboration tools such as Zoom or Google Meet.
- Ability to assist users with varying levels of technical expertise.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Capability to independently diagnose and resolve technical issues.
- Commitment to the mission and values of The McCallie School.
- Experience with device management systems.
- Familiarity with streaming services for video and webinars.
- Knowledge of Linux administration.
- Programming or scripting skills.
- Previous experience in an educational IT environment.
This position involves working in various locations on campus, requiring the ability to lift up to fifty pounds and access devices in elevated areas.
