Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable Class A Truck Operator who demonstrates exceptional physical and mental endurance, thriving on the road to ensure the secure transportation of equipment and materials. This role often involves loading and unloading tasks, including rigging when necessary, with the benefit of returning home most evenings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comply with all company policies and adhere to OSHA/MSHA/DOT regulations.
  • Act swiftly to mitigate any immediate hazards encountered during operations.
  • Report all incidents and near misses, including minor injuries and property damage, before the end of the shift.
  • Conduct pre and post-trip inspections, identifying and documenting any safety defects, and recommend vehicles for service as needed.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of how to operate and safely drive assigned delivery vehicles.
  • Drive trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) exceeding 26,000 pounds.
  • Ensure the trailer hitch is securely attached to the tractor unit.
  • Transport goods from the point of origin to designated destinations.
  • Load and organize goods logically for transport.
  • Secure contents within the truck appropriately.
  • Safely and efficiently unload goods at the destination.
  • Provide support to field teams as required.
  • Obtain necessary signatures to confirm delivery.
  • Communicate with team members regarding timely deliveries.
  • Verify that shipment contents match the manifest documentation.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle, both interior and exterior.
  • Complete inspections and notify management of any significant maintenance issues.
  • Keep detailed driving logs as mandated.
  • Track and report working hours, including job numbers.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and adjust driving according to weather conditions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid Class A license is mandatory.
  • Preferred 2+ years of relevant experience in tractor-trailer driving.
  • Must maintain a clean driving record.
  • Pass background checks, DOT physicals, and drug tests.
  • Comfortable maneuvering and parking tractor-trailers.
  • Detail-oriented, alert, and focused.
  • Physically and mentally fit for the demands of the job.
  • Ability to operate lift trucks, pallet jacks, hand trucks, etc.
  • Experience in rigging is advantageous.
  • Team-oriented, disciplined, dependable, and resourceful.
  • Exhibit a high level of composure and a customer-service mindset.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking, sitting, standing, balancing, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and climbing stairs/ladders.
  • Must possess vision, hearing, and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Willingness to travel independently to various destinations.
