As a key member of the Energy and Sustainability team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of steam, electricity, and chilled water to all Ithaca campus facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of approximately 30 salaried and hourly union employees to provide 24/7/365 operation and maintenance of the central energy plant facilities.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of three separate enterprise units: combined heat and power, chilled water, and hydroelectric.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Provide engineering support and be directly involved in the management and execution of capital projects.
  • Manage and have budget responsibility for approximately $35,000,000 annually.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field.
  • NYS Professional Engineering license (PE).
  • Five years of utility or hydro-mechanical and steam system leadership experience.
  • Proven experience in leading and building high-functioning teams with high morale.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in the maintenance and operation of utility or industrial power production systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • More than five years of progressive utility system supervisory experience.
  • Understanding of steam, chilled water, and electric production systems, and related equipment.
