Culinary and Food Services Manager I Job Description

The University of Arizona is seeking a highly skilled Culinary and Food Services Manager I to join our team. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Executive Sous Chef and Executive Chef in developing and implementing current menu items and training staff on proper cooking techniques.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assume complete charge of kitchen operations, supervising and maintaining cooking and Health Department standards and techniques of line-level employees.
  • Provide leadership for subordinates and enforce proper procedures, assuming accountability and responsibilities in the absence of supervisors.
  • Participate in menu design and implementation, preparing orders for daily and upcoming functions.
  • Ensure proper usage and rotation of all food items, checking freshness and quality of food and presentation.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels, overseeing all food preparation and production in hot and cold kitchens.
  • Expedite all event food orders, participating in menu design and implementation.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma with a minimum of 7 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
  • Must be able to occasionally transport/move a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts to include weekends, holidays, and a weekly schedule of 50+/- hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2 years of experience as a supervisor.
  • Experience dealing effectively with all business contacts.
