PacBio is seeking an experienced engineer to lead the design and implementation of electronic subsystems for our next-generation SMRT sequencing instruments.
Key Responsibilities:- Design, prototype, and build complex mixed analog and digital custom circuit boards, including programmable logic.
- Improve existing designs to enhance reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability.
- Collaborate with manufacturing to transition deliverables to mass production.
- Work closely with turnkey PCBA manufacturers and assembly houses to build prototypes.
- Refine hardware requirements with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Systems Engineering, Optical, Mechanical, and System Integration.
- Present and champion compelling solutions to both business and technical audiences.
- Explore technology trends and their applicability to PacBio's next-generation products.
- Typically requires 11-14 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 9-12 years with a Master's degree, or 8-11 years with a PhD.
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Possess an analytical mindset and extensive experience with electronic and FPGA design.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills and a structured problem-solving approach.
- Experience architecting and implementing complex high-performance embedded systems.
- Proficient in schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium, OrCAD, and Cadence Allegro CAD/EDA design tools.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with High-Performance Compute (HPC) architectures.
- Experience with semiconductor capital equipment, laboratory instruments, or similar products.
