We are looking for a talented Directed Energy Specialist to join our team at American Systems. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology, engineering, and analysis of alternatives.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) within technical areas pertaining to directed energy, such as optics, lasers, and radio frequency sources.

This position requires the ability to work daily on-site at the Pentagon and exhibit specialized skills in RDT&E. The candidate must also be able to evaluate and secure cutting-edge technology essential to the modernization of national strategy in defense.

A week in the life of this role may include:

  • Developing and coordinating concepts and requirements for the application of current and emerging Directed Energy technologies.
  • Maintaining and updating Directed Energy roadmaps, coordinating roadmaps with key stakeholders.
  • Assisting and preparing presentations and reports to DoD leadership and outside DoD.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting research and analysis to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement solutions.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to senior leadership.

Requirements:

  • TS/SCI Clearance
  • Master's degree in STEM
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in engineering, cybersecurity, and RDT&E
  • Previous experience in engineering, analysis of alternatives, integration, requirements, and testing
  • Excellent writing, communication, and briefing skills

Salary: $170k - $205k per year, based on experience and qualifications.
