Engineering Department at Central Lincoln

Located at our Headquarters, the Engineering Department is dedicated to substations, transmission, and telecommunications infrastructure. Our team of professionals designs and supervises construction projects to guarantee uninterrupted service for our customers. Collaborating with all departments at Central Lincoln, our engineers engage in both field and office tasks.

Position Overview: Associate Engineer - Electrical

We are looking for candidates for the Associate Engineer - Electrical position. As part of our innovative and skilled team, you will assist in various projects aimed at maintaining and enhancing our systems. This role presents an excellent opportunity to learn from experienced industry professionals and develop within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Your role will involve:
  • Delivering high-quality electrical engineering design and participating in project management activities related to the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of Central Lincoln's facilities.
  • Conducting investigations and analyses to identify and recommend solutions for engineering projects and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Learning all facets of the Engineering Department to provide comprehensive support to multiple complex projects.

Core Functions

Engineering Design and Analysis
  • Drafting technical documents related to the purchase, construction, and operations of all CLPUD electrical systems.
  • Performing engineering QA/QC procedures on electrical equipment as necessary.
  • Troubleshooting moderately complex electrical system circuitry.
  • Assisting with all aspects of substation construction and design.
  • Conducting feasibility studies on CLPUD's electrical systems and drafting technical reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Developing settings for and programming equipment related to the protection and monitoring of CLPUD's electrical system.
  • Conducting site visits and inspections to gather data and ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Performing calculations and simulations to support system design and analysis.

Project Management
  • Developing and implementing scopes, schedules, and budgets for moderately complex projects.
  • Overseeing and monitoring project activities from concept to completion.
  • Communicating project progress to internal clients and management.
  • Writing status and tracking reports.
  • Presenting project recommendations to teams and management.
  • Participating in the selection of consultants and assisting with management of consultant contracts.
  • Ensuring compliance with QA/QC procedures to maintain the quality of project deliverables.

Support to Operations
  • Providing electrical engineering support to operations field personnel.
  • Clarifying and pinpointing problems, developing testing methods, and providing alternative solutions.
  • Writing brief reports describing possible solutions and recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution, preferably in Electrical Engineering.
  • 0-3 years of engineering experience, preferably in the electric utility sector.
  • First Aid/CPR certification and an Oregon Driver's License are required.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) License or ability to obtain within one year.
