Position Summary

As a vital member of the Fleet Services Division, your role encompasses the service, repair, and refurbishment of a diverse range of vehicles and equipment, including automobiles, light, medium, and heavy trucks, transit vehicles, buses, and construction machinery.

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle Diagnostics and Repair:
  • Identify and rectify malfunctions in various vehicles and machinery, including gasoline and diesel engines, transmission systems, and hydraulic components.
Advanced Electronic Repairs:
  • Conduct repairs on onboard computer systems, fuel injection mechanisms, and emissions control systems to ensure compliance with regulations.
Welding and Fabrication:
  • Execute welding and cutting tasks using various techniques, and fabricate specialized parts for unique projects.
Preventive Maintenance:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, lubrication, and system servicing to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
Component Replacement:
  • Replace or repair worn parts, including brakes, tires, and other essential components, while conducting scheduled vehicle inspections.
Installation of Accessories:
  • Install aftermarket equipment and accessories, enhancing vehicle functionality and safety.
Shop Maintenance:
  • Maintain the Fleet Services Shop and associated equipment, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma / GED

Experience: Minimum of six years in a similar role, demonstrating progressive experience as a skilled mechanic or technician.

Certifications: Valid Oregon Driver's License required, with a preference for candidates holding a Class A CDL.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • In-depth understanding of automotive repair practices and principles.
  • Proficient in diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to various audiences.
