Job Title: General Counsel

Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts is seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our executive team, you will play a critical role in ensuring our organization's compliance with various laws and regulations governing exempt organizations.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all compliance and legal matters for the organization, ensuring adherence to federal, state/local, and international laws and regulations.
  • Provide counsel on major transactions, including contract negotiation and review.
  • Develop and implement corporate policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage, select, and oversee outside counsel as needed to support organizational needs.
  • Act as the organization's HIPAA Compliance Officer and Privacy Officer, ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop auditing and monitoring processes to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Manage compliance, legal, and risk management staff, providing leadership and guidance on organizational goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, with expertise in nonprofit corporate and tax matters.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school.
  • Bar admission in Massachusetts.
  • Experience in healthcare compliance, risk management, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to lead interdisciplinary teams.
