We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant General Counsel to join our team at Suffolk County Sheriffs Department. The successful candidate will provide legal support and guidance to the General Counsel and other departmental staff.
Key Responsibilities- Represent the department in contract and procurement issues, researching legal topics and preparing memoranda as assigned.
- Assist in the review, drafting, and compilation of departmental policies and procedures.
- Research and draft legal memoranda on various legal issues affecting the department.
- Manage FOIA requests and respond to inquiries from external and internal stakeholders.
- Investigate and report on incidents and issues as assigned by the General Counsel.
- Perform other duties and assignments as required.
- Admission to the Massachusetts and Federal Bar is required.
- Prior experience with contract law and regulations is preferred.
- Familiarity with Commonwealth procurement policies and procedures is preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
- Ability to interact with employees and the public in a professional and discreet manner.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals at all levels.
The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential.
The position requires the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
The successful candidate will be required to participate in mandatory training and professional development opportunities.
