Job Summary

As a Hazardous Materials Inspector Manager with the City of Minneapolis, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials. This position requires a strong understanding of public safety and emergency response planning and management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to hazardous materials.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and programs to mitigate potential risks and hazards.
  • Collaborate with other city departments, emergency services, and state and federal agencies to coordinate efforts related to hazardous materials management and emergency response.
  • Provide training and education to first responders and the public on hazardous materials safety and emergency response procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in legislation and regulations related to hazardous materials and emergency response.
Requirements
  • Post-high school education related to the work.
  • Four years of experience related to the duties required, including experience conducting hazardous materials inspections.
  • Hazardous materials Safety Officer certification.
  • HAZWOPER Certification.
  • Weapons of Mass Destruction certification.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, an Aboveground Tank Certification.
Working Conditions

This position requires considerable out-of-office work, including inspections and emergency response activities. The selected candidate will be required to work on-call and be available to respond to emergencies at any time.
