Job Summary
The Pharmacy Support Specialist will be responsible for the daily operation of the medication room and medication services as directed by the Health Services Director (HSD) and in accordance with physician orders, state regulations and the nurse practice act.

Key Responsibilities
1. Process physician medication and treatment orders in accordance with state regulations and the nurse practice act.
2. Administer and assist with the self-administration of routine and non-routine medications in accordance with physician orders, state regulations, and the nurse practice act.
3. Maintain accurate records of medication and treatment services provided or omitted, including controlled substances, in each resident's clinical record.
4. Coordinate with pharmacies for medication orders and refills.
5. Report all medication errors per policy and complete notifications timely and all required forms.
6. Report and record changes in resident condition, incidents and accidents to HSD, physician and family member as indicated under the direction of the HSD and complete all incident forms.
7. Routinely communicate with physicians, pharmacies, outside services, residents, and families regarding medication and care services.
8. Provide direct resident care while promoting the resident's dignity, independence, and personal choice, regularly observe residents' physical and mental conditions and report changes to health services leadership or Executive Director.
9. Provide care services as directed by the resident's cooperative service plan.
10. Coordinate personal care services with co-workers assisting with lifting and respond to assistance pages promptly.
11. Greet residents, visitors, and staff courteously, and in a manner that respects dignity, confidentiality standards, and promotes individual rights.
12. Follow and support community fire safety and infection control practices and promptly report any unsafe conditions or equipment to immediate supervisor.
13. Serve meals in the dining room, assist residents at mealtime, provide resident tray delivery, and assist with dining room and kitchen clean up and maintenance.

About the Role
We estimate the salary for this position to be around $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on location and experience.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
- At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting; pharmacy technician certification or experience an asset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain accurate records and reports
- Physical stamina to perform duties of the role, including standing for long periods and lifting heavy objects
