General Purpose:

The Quality Inspector is responsible for evaluating and testing products throughout various stages of the manufacturing process. This role involves compiling and analyzing statistical data to ensure the quality and reliability of Blades and Blade Sub-Components.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Detects defects affecting Defects per Unit (DPU) and First Pass Yield (FPY) metrics, collaborating with Production and Technical Support teams to resolve issues. Maintains documentation to reinforce improvement strategies and provides coaching to production staff on approved manufacturing protocols.
  • Handles Non-Conformance (NC) cases as assigned, assisting factory personnel with initiation and performing containment of non-conforming items. Aids in determining the disposition of parts for scrapping or internal rework.
  • Facilitates non-standard work events, ensuring adherence to processes to restore product conformity.
  • Conducts inspections and verifies materials against specifications for known defects, supporting the creation of non-conformity reports.
  • Coordinates rework activities for NC parts or products in progress or inventory, collaborating with Quality Engineers and Quality Technicians.
  • Provides independent quality approval for processes in which they are not directly involved in manufacturing.
  • Facilitates Form, Fit, and Function testing for identified products, documenting NC reports for parts that do not meet defined specifications.
  • Supports the production line with potential quality issues, offering guidance on specifications and serving as the initial contact for escalating quality concerns to Quality Technicians and Engineers.
  • Verifies compliance with product requirements prior to release from manufacturing, including reviewing inspection journals for completion and ensuring process documentation is thorough. Inspects products to confirm adherence to order specifications and the company's quality control system.
  • Compiles and communicates Quality reports, presenting the previous day's Quality status during morning meetings.
  • Ensures non-conforming materials are properly marked and sent for quarantine in the Material Review Board (MRB) area, acting as the primary contact for NC materials to facilitate quick disposition by the MRB team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Must be able to see and hear alarms, timers, and follow verbal instructions.
  • Required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for tasks.
  • Ability to work in various production environments without restrictions.
  • Flexibility to support different shifts as needed.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is essential.

Education, Training, and Skills Required:

  • High school diploma or GED; four years of manufacturing experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong teamwork skills, adaptability, eagerness to learn new skills, excellent work ethic, dependability, and dedication to quality work.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in small group settings.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in various units of measure.
  • Experience in auditing, quality assurance/control/improvement, statistical tools, Six Sigma, statistical analysis, and SPC is preferred.
